08/09/29

after a summer hiatus, flying ruckus is back on the airwaves--this season, on mondays, 6-7 pm. thanks for all the welcome-back calls on monday. hope you're enjoying listening to the show as much as i love putting it together. i played some of my favorites from last season on the first show. lancaster's sax at about 4:10 on bill dixon's metamorphoses was just as heart breaking and nostalgic as when i first heard the line and lyons' other afternoons just as wild & freaky. the craggy, metallic sound of abe's sax & the maelstorm of sound that is sato's drumming made me remember how excited i am for this fall season. you can listen to an archive of the show here. (sorry for the various hiccups and cacophony of sounds in the beginning!) here's to another year of free jazz & experimental music!

playlist:
metamorphoses - bill dixon - intents and purposes
other afternoons - jimmy lyons - other afternoons
buridan's ass - evan parker - the snake decides
after the acacia rain - kaoru abe & yasukazu sato - as the acacia rain stops
meditation - eugene lee - meditations

ciao,
s
